I want to take a moment to comment on the great things members of Hancock County do when they come together. Last weekend we had our annual Bowling For Kids event on March 7 & 8. This event brought 134 teams over two days bringing over 700 people together for one common goal to support young people in our county. CMC provides youth mentoring programs for children ages 6-14 through community and school programming. Our mentors range from High School students to retired individuals. Collectively those who joined us and our incredible event sponsors, we were able to raise over $62,000 to support our youth but also to support their families, many who are grandparents raising their grandchildren. The individuals that came together are from a broad spectrum of our community. Many of these individuals give to our community every day through their professional work; our First Responders with teams from the Findlay Police Department, the Findlay Fire Department, the Hancock County Sheriff Department, HANCO, the Health Department, as well as several nurses from Blanchard Valley Health Department Emergency Room. Joining us were also many individuals from our school system, from administrators to teachers who partner with us for our 7 school-based programs. These are individuals who every day at work, support our community and our children. YET, when invited to join us to support our mission without hesitation, they continue to be present year after year supporting our youth.
We had teams from many of our local businesses who year after year continues to support our mission through this event. These businesses are large and small. We had other service organizations once again helping us from the Findlay Service League, Kiwanis. And Rotary. We had over 60 members from Movement Church join us. We had our family members, neighbors, friends, and high school students joining us. Our mentors, as well as mentors and mentees who were matched over 20-30 years ago and are still connected, commit to attending each year. To all of them, I say THANK-YOU. Thank you for supporting our program, our community, our families, and our children. Thank you for helping us to provide a positive mentor to the children we serve.
As we move through the upcoming weeks, these individuals will continue to do great things in our community. Attending and supporting our event is only one of the many things they do all year long to support our community.
